Interpersonal Psychotherapy UK (IPT UK) is a multi-disciplinary interest group for people involved in the training, practice, and theory of Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
Our members are from a wide range of backgrounds including Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, CBT Therapists, Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and more recently, KSA applicants.
Becoming a member of the IPT UK network grants you access to a wide library of resources and CPD events, that will enhance and shape the way in which you deliver your IPT.
WHY JOIN US? IPT UK evolved from an informal special interest group of individuals to a formalised organisation which has involved setting, monitoring, and maintaining training, supervision and accreditation standards.
IPT UK is the only UK based accredited body for therapists practicing Interpersonal Psychotherapy. We aim to provide a national standard and structure to enable this intervention to be recognised, implemented, and offered with confidence across UK treatment centres. HOW TO REGISTER:
Trainee Members To register as a Trainee Member please click here and choose the appropriate option of "Trainee Member - First Year" or "Trainee Member - Subsequent Years"

Non-Practicing Members For those who are not currently practising (e.g. due to being on maternity/paternity/adoption leave, or those on long-term sick leave). Please email the IPT UK Administration Team for further information ([email protected])
What to do if your membership has lapsed or you are returning from a period of leave:
You may wish to contact the IPT UK Administration Team prior to renewing your membership to ensure that you are following the correct process: [email protected]
Less than 2 years 1. Member can renew account as per usual using the above links, with no additional requirements. However please note that your CPD requirements must be up to date. You can find the full CPD policy by clicking here.
2-5 years 1. Member needs to attend an IPT Refresher day (Details can be found on our Events Calendar) 2. Member needs to complete a re-accreditation check list (found on our Policies page) and send this, along with refresher day attendance certificate, as proof of attendance to IPT UK Admin ([email protected]). The purpose of this is to ensure that supervision is in place and there is a plan for how you’ll meet CPD requirements going forward. 3. If the above is satisfactory we will invite you to register for a membership with IPT UK.
Over 5 years 1. Member needs to attend an IPT Refresher day (Details can be found on our Events Calendar) 2. Member needs to complete 1 piece of supervised casework with an IPT UK Accredited Supervisor, under training conditions to demonstrate competence, prior to seeking reaccreditation. Supervisor will need to provide a statement to confirm that this casework has been completed to an acceptable standard and email this to IPT UK Admin ([email protected]) 3. Member needs to complete a re-accreditation check list (found on our Policies page) and send this, along with refresher day attendance certificate, as proof of attendance to IPT UK Admin ([email protected]). The purpose of this is to ensure that supervision is in place and there is a plan for how you’ll meet CPD requirements going forward. 4. If the above is satisfactory we will invite you to register for a membership with IPT UK.
