Supervisor training: Durham

IAPT IPT Advanced training and Supervisor training (Level D)
Course director: Dr Elizabeth Robinson, IAPT IPT Trainer/supervisor
Course Fees: £1000
Dates: 14th March, 15th March, 21st March, 22nd March, & 25th March 2019

This training is available to accredited IPT practitioners.  The course builds on the experience gained as an IPT practitioner; it aims to advance skills relating to IPT theory and clinical practice. Complex cases across a range of presentations using all of the focal areas will be studied. Specific IPT techniques using competency based assessments will be examined, with the emphasis on how the practitioner can develop their IPT skills and work  towards supervising IPT.

Supervisor training examines and develops supervisor’s competencies when providing IPT supervision. The trainee supervisor will develop skills which facilitate both trainee practitioners and qualified IPT practitioners in demonstrating and advancing their IPT practice; this includes adherence to the model of IPT, dealing with IPT drift and how to develop and advance expertise in IPT skills.

The  provision of constructive and detailed feedback on case reviews and audio assessments in order to develop IPT practice is a key element of the supervisor training. Accreditation as an IPT supervisor is a competency based process obtained after completing of the course, two IPT cases supervised with peer supervision and the supervised practice of a trainee IPT practitioner. There is an extra cost involved when pursuing the supervised practice in order to gain supervisors accreditation. Alternatively, the course could also lead to accessing IAPT IPT supervisors available to you in your area.

The training groups are deliberately kept to a small numbers to maximise learning through role play, presentation of case studies and discussion.

The course director has clinical, research, teaching and supervision experience in IPT for well over a decade. Course facilitators are experienced IPT therapists and supervisors.
