IPT UK Policies
Please see our updated SAFEGUARDING POLICIES & PROCEDURES here

Please note there have been a couple of addendums to our policies:
CONVERSION THERAPY
Conversion therapy is a practice aimed at changing an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity.  It is unethical, potentially harmful, and unsupported by evidence.  Therefore, IPT UK actively opposes all forms of conversion therapy. If there is evidence that a member of IPT UK has offered conversion therapy, please make a complaint to IPT UK via the Complaints Process

LIMITATIONS OF THERAPY
As a short-term therapy with a narrow and defined focus we do not claim to effect major shifts in attachment status or significant personality change, (though IPT can begin the process of both). Neither do we claim to make changes beyond the scope of the defined intervention. It is important for all IPT UK members to refer a service user to another practitioner if their needs surpass their level of IPT knowledge and skills.   It is crucial to ensure that all IPT UK members are trained for the level of practice, whether this is a practitioner, supervisor, or trainer, in accordance with IPT UK’s accreditation standards. Please see our Code of Conduct here
